The Oviatt Penthouse has never been a blank canvas, and that’s part of what people have always loved about it. From its Art Deco architecture and layered interiors to the intimacy of its rooms and rooftop views, the space already carries a strong sense of atmosphere the moment guests walk in.
Unlike many venues that require extensive production or decor to feel complete, the penthouse already feels visually rich, intentional, and full of character on its own. And yet, despite its distinct identity, the space remains incredibly flexible.
Over the years, we’ve seen couples, brands, and event hosts approach The Oviatt in dramatically different ways, each bringing their own personality into the space without needing to compete with its character.
Some choose to keep the styling minimal, allowing the architecture and mood of the venue to lead naturally. Others fully transform the environment with dramatic florals, custom installations, layered lighting, and immersive decor moments. Somehow, both approaches work beautifully here.

Old Hollywood & Art Deco Glamour
Some events choose to fully embrace the history of the penthouse.
Rich textures, candlelight, black and champagne palettes, vintage-inspired details, velvet accents, and elevated cocktail styling naturally complement the architecture and mood of the space.
Rather than feeling themed, these events feel immersive, allowing guests to feel like they stepped into a version of Los Angeles that no longer exists.
This approach works especially beautifully for elegant and iconic evening receptions, brand dinners, and formal celebrations.

This direction has become increasingly popular among our hosts. Because the penthouse already carries so much style on its own, this approach often allows hosts to create a polished and cohesive experience without needing to overproduce the environment. There’s a certain ease that comes from working with a space that already feels complete, where even simpler design choices naturally feel intentional and elevated.
